Each solid wood ball is 4.5 cm in diameter (about 1.8 inches). Sanded smooth by hand, then colored with certified safe nontoxic, water-based stains. Grimm’s does not use lacquer or paint for safety and in order to preserve the natural feel of the wood, which is in line with their aim to design toys according to principles of Waldorf and Montessori education.
